Whether chronic tension at work, family conflicts or too little sleep: our body reacts to stress <strong>not only mentally, but also physically<\/strong>. And with far-reaching consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is stress anyway?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Stress is a <strong>biological survival reaction<\/strong>which is designed to protect us from danger. In a fraction of a second, the body is put on alert - the heart beats faster, breathing becomes shallower and the muscles tense up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Responsible for this: the <strong>Cortisol hormone<\/strong>together with adrenaline and noradrenaline. This is useful in the short term - but dangerous in the long term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stress effects in the body - what exactly happens?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. <strong>Brain: overstimulation &amp; lack of concentration<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Chronic stress leads to <strong>altered brain chemistry<\/strong>.
